Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School Horncastle

On Wednesday 29th of January, the art department took 45 year 8 and 9 students to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park in Wakefield. It was a bright but crisp day and the park was incredibly muddy due to the vast amount of rain we have had in recent weeks but students embraced the weather and ground conditions to undertake walk, talk and make workshops with local artists. Our theme for the day was identity and so students critically analysed and discussed the work on show as well as being inspired to reflect on the artist’s work using wire, pencil and found objects. The day was enjoyed by everyone and the students gained a new found understanding of the purpose of art in the landscape.
