Yemi Continues to Shine in Athletics
Over the May half term, Yemi Akande (Y12) competed in the IFAM Outdoor athletics open meet in Brussels, Belgium. The aim of this competition is to help athletes get to the international championships.
Yemi ran a time of 11.40 which helped her win her heat in the 100m. This was the second fastest time overall at the competition and was within qualifying time of the World Junior Championships in August.
Yemi had an amazing time, which gave her the opportunity to compete against lots of international athletes as well as meeting famous athletics such as Femke Bol and Laviai Nielsen. Bol currently holds the indoor 400m world record with a time of 49.17 seconds!
Yemi's goal is to now to run an 11.30 or faster!
