Year 7 Girls Rounders Tournament
Following the successful year group competitions last week it was now Year 7’s turn to put all their hardwork and knowledge from lessons and extra - curricular into practice!
11 schools entered and were divided into 4 groups. QEGS beat De Aston by 8 rounders to 3 and a half and John Spendluffe by 7 rounders to 1 and a half. This determined 1st place and would therefore now play against three other schools who also finished in top spot to finalise places 1 – 4 overall.
15 ball innings against Louth Academy resulted in a low scoring game with fine fielding and accurate bowling securing another win for our young QEGS side. The next opponents were Caistor who were again restricted to only scoring half a rounder. This gave QEGS more confidence and scored another convincing win.
So on to the final match verses QEGS Alford. Horncastle batted first and scored 5 rounders. Excellent team spirit, field placements and tactics restricted Alford to just 1 and a half rounders so completing a clean sweep of victories.
Well done to all the Y7 team.z
Final placings are; 1st QEGS Horncastle
2nd Caistor Grammar
3rd QEGS Alford
4th Louth Academy
