Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School Horncastle

District football champions......again!

The Y8 football rounded off a brilliant domestic campaign by beating Louth Grammar 4-3 in a thrilling district final.
It was an end to end game, where both teams were searching for that all important winning goal when it was 3-3. But it was QEGS that seized the opportunity, with Sonny Jolliffe scoring the winning goal with only 5 minutes remaining. Sonny's winning goal, also saw him cap off his brilliant display with a hat-trick.
Collectively the team played fantastic, but as well as the beforementioned Sonny Jolliffe a  special mention must go to captain Lydia Ratcliff and Oscar Hanson. Both players were extremely combative and composed on the ball in their respective playing positions.
The Y8 football team have now won back to back district titles, which is an outstanding achievement. Bring on Y9, can they make it three in a row?
