D-Day Parade in Horncastle
The 6th June marked the 80th Anniversary of the D-day landings in Normandy and students and staff from QEGS and across the Horncastle Education Trust came together to commemorate it with the local community. A parade of 80 lanterns led by a Highland piper and Royal British Legion standards began in St Mary's churchyard and was followed by a remembrance service and Beacon Lighting as the sun started to set.
The main guest was 102-year-old D-Day veteran Monty Major, and there were many forces families from the past and those presently serving making it a poignant day.
