Coastal Champions
Over the past several weeks, the Y7 football team have been playing in the district coastal league. The team were very excited to play their first league matches for school after months of training with Mr Randman, Harry Master and Jay Wold on a Monday lunchtime. However, the first game didn’t go to plan as they narrowly lost 3-2 against Banovallum.
From here, the team were determined to make amends and they did just this by winning their next five matches to keep pace with Banovallum. On Monday 25th March, they played their final league match of the season against Skegness Grammar. This was the deciding game, because whoever won the game would finish top of the league. It was an extremely tight game, but the team were excellent and managed to win 1-0 thanks to a super strike by Isaac Janney late in the first half. As a result, the team won the league based on their head to head result against Skegness Grammar as both teams finished on the same number of points. Overall the team scored 39 goals in 7 matches, with Sonny Joliffe finishing top goal scorer with 12 goals. The team will now play Louth Academy in the district final after Easter. Well done Y7.
