A Superstar in the making

On Sunday 19th May, Yemi Akande was selected to represent GB juniors as an U20s athlete (she is only 17) at Loughborough International in the 100m and to be the anchor for the 4x100m relay team. Yemi raced against seniors from England, Wales, Scotland, Loughborough University and the National League. It was a successful weekend in the 4x100m, where her team won with a time of 44.59s. In the 100m, despite a slow start, Yemi won with a PB of 11.52s, which is 0.02s off from the World Junior Championship qualification time. Now, Yemi is working hard to get the qualifying time and prepare for further races, this includes her competing in Brussels at the end of May.

Watch this space, this girl has a very bright future in athletics.
