Lincolnshire County Council (LCC) will be making improvements to the roadways surrounding our school during the coming months.
Commencing in August, the improvements will be carried out in three phases:
Phase 1 – West Street resurfacing
From Monday 20th August until approximately 10th September 2018
West Street will be closed for resurfacing from the junction with Bridge Street/Prospect Street up to the traffic island outside of the school gates. Access to school will be via the A158.
Phase 2 – A158 improvements, including resurfacing and junction/traffic signal improvements
From approximately 10th September until the end of October 2018
The A158 junctions with West Street and Langton Hill will be closed and two-way traffic lights will be in place on the A158, enabling traffic to flow in both directions between Lincoln and Skegness.
Staff, visitors and delivery vehicles should follow the diversion signs and access the school via Horncastle Town Centre and West Street.
LCC have kindly agreed that school buses will be granted an exception, due to the size of the vehicles and the restricted timeframe. This is much appreciated and will assist to ensure journeys for students are not prolonged. Please note this applies to buses only, all other traffic will be turned away and must use the diversions in place.
Phase 3 – Langton Hill development access and new footway/cycleway
From approximately end of October until early December 2018
Langton Hill to its junction with the B1191 will be closed and diversions will be in place. It is anticipated that this phase will have the least impact on our school. This third phase of works will not start until Phase 2 is complete and all traffic management is removed.
During all of these roadworks we ask parents to be considerate and avoid attempting to access the school site by vehicle, selecting a safe, alternative place in Horncastle to drop off and/or pick up students.
Any sixth form students who drive to school and park in West Street or on Lincoln Road should find alternative locations.
Nearer the time, details of the roadworks can be found on www.lincolnshire.gov.uk/roadworks.
If you have any queries, feel free to contact the school and we will try to assist you.
