Media Studies at QEGS

The QEGS Media Studies department nurtures creative, independent, resourceful and motivated filmmakers. Students work hard to create professional grade outcomes.

The Media Studies room is a creative space and students are encouraged to collaborate and help each other whenever possible.

Extra help with coursework and controlled assessment tasks is available almost every lunch time. Both Mr Jackson and Mr Grant can be found there most of the time.
In addition, Mr Grant runs occasional technical help sessions, covering basic to advanced filmmaking and editing topics.

More Able students – at GCSE, AS and A2 – are encouraged to undertake increasingly challenging and independent projects in order to access the highest available grades.

Mr Jackson runs an occasional and informal Film Club for Sixth Form Media Studies students – posters and teasers are available to view!
Year 12 students all submit entries for the annual LAFTAs Film Awards – the 2012-2013, 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 entries are available to view!

Lafta Trophies spanning the years

The Media Studies department maintains a blog, as does Mr Jackson. Both are used extensively to disseminate information and encourage independent study.
