COUNTY CUP SUMMARY– QEGS U13s Football

Round 1 – Bye

Round 2 – QEGS U13s 3 – 0 Priory Ruskin, Grantham

QEGS went straight in to the second round of the County Cup after receiving a bye for the first round. Going into the match, QEGS were excited to get their cup run underway and in the end, came out with a 3 – 0 victory, with 2 goals from Captain George Parkinson and another from attacker Tarun Vel. The man of the match was the Captain after his excellent brace.

Quarter Final – QEGS U13s 3 – 2 Kings, Grantham

After their last performance, QEGS had high hopes for their next round. Kings took the lead in the first minute of the game, but QEGS showed great resilience in fighting back. After an end to end game, QEGS were into the next round, thanks to goals from Tarun Vel (2) and Callum Dodsworth (1). After an excellent performance leading the line in the defence, the man of the match was awarded to QEGS’ defender Harry Alexander.

Semi Final– QEGS U13s 1 – 0 Carres

QEGS went into the Semi Final feeling fairly confident after their last two victories and in the end, their confidence paid off as they beat Carres 1 – 0, after a good all round performance from everyone in the QEGS team. The man of the match went to George Parkinson after scoring the only goal of the match, but special credit must go to goal keeper Max Marritt and the back four of Anton Kiss, Aaron Smith, Harry Alexander and Jack Leggate for keeping a clean sheet against a previously free scoring team.

Final – QEGS U13s 0 – 2 Deeping

QEGS arrived at Ravendale Drive with a good attitude and a team lifted by high morale, however, the victory wasn’t to be. QEGS failed to take their chances in the first half, leaving a lot to do in the second half, and unfortunately for QEGS there wasn’t enough time to change the result. After the final whistle, QEGS left the pitch with an overall result that unfortunately, didn’t really reflect their performance. QEGS still did extremely well to reach the final and their performances throughout the cup deserve appreciation, even though they couldn’t bring home the trophy. The QEGS team are looking forward to their next chance to try and win the cup and hopefully next year, they can bring back the trophy.

The team would like to say a massive thank you to Mr Randman who manged the team for both the league and cup matches. Without his organisation, commitment and support the team wouldn’t have been as successful as they were. Thanks Sir!
