On Wednesday 11th of January QEGS played Boston High in one of the most entertaining games of the season. QEGS kicked off knowing if they won their next three games they would win the league so the team was focused. Mr Cope was forced into a reshuffle due to a few injuries which involved striker Tom Johnson playing in goal and right back Mark Hendy playing on the wing. It was a bitterly cold day but despite the conditions QEGS were up to the challenge. The game started at a frantic pace with committed challenges from the centre back partnership of Callum Bennett and Captain Elliott Ludlow.

Striker Blake Kenneally-Forrester was lively throughout the game having a penalty shout turned down before eventually opening the scoring due to good work from Mark Hendy on the wing and Jamie Jenkins winning a knock for Blake to score from close range.

The first half finished 1-0; the second half started badly and QEGS were quickly down 2-1 after some poor defending which caused a penalty to be given away and another goal from a counter attack. This caused Mr Cope to make a tactical substitution, bringing on Ben Robison and Elliott Ludlow being moved into midfield.

After this QEGS began their onslaught on Boston High’s goal; Elliott made an instant impact in his new role by scoring the equaliser from a cross by Blake. Shortly after Elliott returned the favour by assisting Blake to get the lead; late on Mark Hendy made the game safe by scoring a goal after beating a player and lashing the ball past the keeper.  The game finished 4-2 in QEGS’ favour continuing the challenge for the title. Man of the Match was awarded to Mark Hendy for his tireless running and vital goal scored to clinch the win for QEGS.
