Within their citizenship lessons, all year 9 students took part in the Step into the NHS schools’ competition earlier this year. This annual competition is organised by Health Education England (part of the NHS) and aims to show students that there is much more to working for the NHS than being a doctor or nurse. In fact there are more than 350 different careers in the NHS and, with that many careers on offer, there’s a job to suit anyone, no matter what your interests and skills are. Our students were challenged to choose an NHS career that interests them then to create a job description and an advert to tell their friends and other young people about it, either working on their own or in small teams.
We were delighted to be informed that entries from two of our students had been selected as highly commended by the panel of judges, you can see their work on the links below. Congratulations Rosie & Matthew!
We intend to enter this competition again next year, so encourage our year 8 students to get thinking - we would love to have a regional winner in 2018!
